Confirmed active cases of COVID-19 are rising again in Medicine Hat

There are 25 new cases and 13 recovered cases since Wednesday’s update.

With the province limiting testing in the fifth wave, these confirmed cases do not accurately reflect the number of cases in the community.

Of all Medicine Hat residents, 78.4% received one dose of vaccine, 74.7% received two doses, and 34.8% received three doses.

An AHS spokesperson said TO DISCUSS News As of Friday, there are currently 81 hospitalized patients positive for COVID-19 in the southern zone, including seven in intensive care. There are 17 patients hospitalized at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with two COVID-19 positive patients in the ICU.

Chinook Regional Hospital has 48 hospitalized patients, including five in intensive care. Cardston Health Center and Taber Health Center each have five hospitalized patients; Brooks Health Center and Pincher Creek Health Center have two each; and Bassano Health Center and Crowsnest Pass Health Center have one each.

There are now 966 Albertans hospitalized with COVID-19, including 62 in intensive care, and 4,023 deaths.

There are 6,583 known active cases in the province and 523,679 recovered cases.

The total number of cases in Alberta since the start of the pandemic is 534,285.

There are 502 new confirmed cases in the province on Friday out of 2,925 tests.

Again, these are only confirmed cases and do not accurately reflect the number of cases in the province.

The positivity rate for the period is approximately 17.2%.

Alberta administered 8,550,867 doses of vaccine in the last update.

Over the past seven days, COVID was the primary or contributing factor in 70.5% of non-ICU hospitalizations and 70.3% of ICU admissions.

Of the new cases today, 20.7% are unvaccinated, 1.6% have received one dose, 29.7 have received two doses, and 48% have received three doses.

Among current hospitalizations, 31.4% are not vaccinated, 4% have received one dose, 31.5% have received two doses and 33.1% have received three doses.

Among the total population of Alberta, 81% received at least one dose of vaccine and 76.3% received two doses, 36% received three doses.

There have been 57,405 cases of the Omicron variant identified in Alberta. Of these, 3,673 cases are in the southern zone.
