BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) – The Palm Beach County executive order closing all county beaches for the statutory holiday weekend appears to be working.
Webcam images monitored throughout the morning from several beach locations reveal orderly. No one has been seen on the beaches in the area.
It’s a much different story from the last time the beaches were closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Webcam images and stunned passers-by regularly documented violations. But as COVID-19 numbers skyrocket in Palm Beach County, it looks like there is a new appreciation that the spread of the coronavirus is out of control and the crowds need to be stopped, well, the overcrowding.
Empty beaches could also be the result of heavy fines. Anyone caught on the beach faces civil penalties of up to $ 500.
Beaches reopen in Palm Beach County at 12:01 am Monday.
