Insiders chat with KPRC 2 sports reporter Ari Alexander as you watch World Series Game 6

Hey guys, this time I’m not stuck in a mediocre hotel room! We are live from Minute Maid Park in Game 6.

Big festivities. If you’ve watched us at 6 p.m., not only have you seen THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP PAUL WALL present our newscast, but Randy, Vanessa and I have explained what we think is the difference.

I need Yordan Alvarez to get that extra big base hit. Mr. Tippin on 4-4 must have an impact.

Plus, Travis Scott is in the house.

I want to see at least 5 rounds of at least Luis Garcia and Jake Odorizzi combined. From there, I think the Astros can find 4 pen innings, potentially 2 of which is Ryan Pressly, which is fresh.

Alex Bregman is still 7th in the roster, Jose Siri starts tonight in 8th place. Vamos!

First 1st

Oh my God Kyle Tucker! What a catch!

Luis Garcia looks good. Velo up, sharp cutter. Let’s see how long he can keep this.

Bottom 1st

As Altuve goes first, Michael Brantley appears to have pulled himself out by stepping on Max Fried’s ankle. They call Brantley safe and sound, but what an odd game to start this game.

A d

Two over and Max Fried gets the middle hitters.

Always aimless

Top 2nd

Luis Garcia’s cutter works. It looks like what he did in the ALCS 6 game, and he puts it good low and on the outside for right-handed hitters.

It bodes well for the Astros if Garcia looks like this.

Bottom 2nd

Large piece by Dansby Swanson. The Braves are here because they have one of the best inside defenses in the game. They are similar to the Astros in that sense.

Top 3rd

Garcia has his first real problem, getting runners in the first and second row.

Brooks Raley is in the pen, for some reason.

I don’t think Brooks Raley should see more action in this World Series.

Big at bat here between Luis Garcia and Jorge Soler. 2 withdrawals, bases loaded, 2 out. You don’t want to see a Raley / Freeman match.

Jorge Soler just hit a 6,000-foot home run. 3-0.

Brooks Raley confronts Freddie Freeman. I don’t like this movement at all.

A d

Well it worked, Brooks Raley got Freddie Freeman on easy ground. He did his job.

3rd at the bottom

Machete! Stay warm! First single for batter # 9.

Altuve flies away and doesn’t like his swing there.

Michael Brantley gets into a double game and Max Fried takes care.

Not a good start so far, where the offense seems outclassed against a southpaw as it has for much of the series.

Top 4th

Cristian Javier is there, probably for a job with several innings if he can overcome them cleanly.

He does it. 1-2-3 and he should get the 5th, and maybe the 6th if he keeps dealing.

The Astros must strike.

Bottom 4th

Carlos Correa leads the 4th with a Texas leaguer, or as we call it in Texas – a leaguer.

And Yordan hits in a double play. At this point he’s totally worked up by left-handed pitching.

Max Fried through 4 very fast innings. It’s not good.

Top 5th

Javier walks the header, and now the bullpen may need to be active. The Astros will have to throw everything on the Braves to keep this 3-0.

A d

Blake Taylor is in the pen. You have to hope that he only has to face one hitter.

Dansby Swanson just took Cristian Javier deeply. It’s 5-0.

It seems finished.

6-0. Blake Taylor loses the left-left match against 2020 NL MVP Freddie Freeman. The Astros just don’t have enough pitchers to deal with the best lefties in the game. Their hitters also struggle with top left pitching.

Phil Maton will come in. Maton is truly the only Astros pitcher who can handle left-handed people. This is the only flaw in building their list.

If the Astros are to survive, they will now have to make the biggest comeback in World Series history. No team has ever come back from a loss of 6 in a World Series playoff game.

5th from bottom

Nothing good has happened.

Top 6th

Phil Maton is still there. Maton probably should have been there sooner, but the Astros need him as much as possible.

The Braves have runners now that Maton is probably pretty tired.

A d

Maton fights through it and blocks 2 runners. Once again, the Astros will need to make the greatest comeback to the World Series of all time to win this game.

Bottom 6th

This is the worst case scenario. Max Fried gives the length of the Braves, and they have Tyler Matzek and Will Smith available.

Correa almost gets away with a strikeout / pass to bat but Travis d’Arnaud does.

It looks dark.

Top 7th

Ryne Stanek is for the Astros. He was great in the playoffs… and he almost gave Eddie Rosario a home run. Fortunately, just a mistake.

Alex Bregman just made a phenomenal play to get Jorge Soler. The crowd finally has some juice, but that 6-race deficit is a lot.

7-0. Freddie Freeman just went to Stanek’s center. It’s a disaster.

Bottom 7th

Tyler Matzek is here. The Astros couldn’t touch him.

Ultimately! Yordan Alvarez opposes and gets a first single. The return starts now?

Ryan Pressly is in the bullpen. He should probably go the rest of the way.

A d

Great swing from Kyle Tucker but Joc Pederson takes a dive. 2 outputs. This is not going well.

Aledmys Diaz will be a sure hit for Jose Siri. Siri was supposed to spark the Astros tonight. Does not occur.

Alex Bregman, who got into a fight, hits Matzek. The Astros have 6 more strikeouts and a 7-point deficit.

Top 8th

Pressly is there. Jose Siri and Kyle Tucker almost collided. It could have been really bad.
