PCB chief Ramiz Raja reveals conversation with Pakistani skipper Babar Azam

India and Pakistan are both cricket crazy countries and their passion is unparalleled. Cricketers are praised when they perform well and when things go wrong players face a lot of criticism. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja revealed that Pakistani skipper Babar Azam spoke to him frequently about the criticism they faced.

Raja said: “The fans have ownership. It’s as big of a commodity as any of our major institutions. They unite Pakistan, make the fans smile. Everyone is emotionally involved in this team,” Ramiz told Samaa TV. Babar Azam often tells me “dekhiye hamaara kitna critical hota hai”. I say to him: ‘be happy that cricket is not a sport like the others in Pakistan where people don’t care’. When people are engaged, they form an opinion. As long as they are constructive, no one has a problem”.

Pakistan suffered a lot of criticism just before the T20 World Cup but Raja supported the team and asked fas to recognize the achievement as Pakistan dominated India in the T20 World Cup 2021 .

“Their achievement is nothing short of a miracle. I never saw Pakistan beat India (in the World Cup), now they did. But then people say, ‘ok, it happened. Let’s move on’. You should take a short break and acknowledge their accomplishments. We have defeated a billion dollar cricket industry. It’s not easy,” Ramiz said.

“This team has a wonderful temperament. There are mid-level issues and we tend to freeze and drop holds in big games. But these are not things you can work on. Anything is possible,” he added.
