Jeremy pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of forcible rape, seven counts of forced oral copulation, six counts of forcible sexual assault, four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, two counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious or sleeping person and one count each of lewd acts on a child under 14 or 15 years of age, buggery with the use of force and assault with intent to commit rape, The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced in a statement Wednesday.
His attorney, Stuart Goldfarb, said Jeremy was “innocent on all charges” in a statement to USA TODAY.
“Far too often, victims of sexual assault suffer in isolation,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in the statement. “We must ensure that survivors have all available options to help them recover, including trauma-informed healing services and support to report such crimes.
The indictment, which was released on August 19 and unsealed on Wednesday, covers allegations dating from 1996 to 2020 with victims between the ages of 15 and 51. The charges appear to be identical to the charges brought against Jeremy last year, which he also denied.
In a tactical move also employed in their case against Harvey WeinsteinLA County prosecutors used secret grand jury proceedings to obtain an indictment that superseded the original charges, allowing them to skip a public preliminary hearing on the evidence and proceed to trial.
