Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore is hoping to keep Burnley’s Bailey Peacock-Farrell for his entire season-long loan.
Peacock-Farrell, 25, joined Sheffield on Wednesday on a one-season loan from Burnley this summer.
Since then, the former Leeds United shooter has played 19 times in League One, putting in good performances for the Owls who currently sit in 7th place in the table.
Peacock-Farrell has had a few bad form spots, however. He’s made a handful of costly mistakes so far this season, but overall he’s been a solid addition to the squad.
As January approaches, Moore will no doubt be cautious about recalling one of his loan players – Yorkshire Live revealed that the Peacock-Farrell loan deal contains a recall clause, and Moore had this to say about the possibility of losing Peacock-Farrell next month:
“To tell the truth, we will discuss with them [Burnley] in terms of where we think it is. We haven’t had that discussion yet, but we’ll do it to see if there’s anything they want to continue in the second half of the season.
Does Burnley need to remember?
Burnley currently has three first team goalies namely Nick Pope, Wayne Hennessey and Will Norris.
Sean Dyche’s side don’t appear to need to call Peacock-Farrell back as is and so that should give Moore and Sheffield fans on Wednesday hope the Englishman see his loan at Hillsborough.
But that could all change very quickly. The holiday season is a tough time and Burnley may need a backup goaltender soon, and calling Peacock-Farrell back would be their best bet.
For now though, he’s a Sheffield player on Wednesday and he’s next in action against Burton Albion on Boxing Day.
