Guiding Light and As The World Turns soap star Lisa Brown dies at 67 after “brief illness”
Soap star Lisa Brown, who appeared on such popular shows as Guiding Light and As The World Turns, has died aged 67.
The news was confirmed by Soap Opera Digest which only revealed that she suffered a “brief illness” at the end.
She rose to fame in Guiding Light, one of the longest-running dramas in American television history, as the beautiful Nola Reardon who always dreamed of being famous.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Lisa was a mainstay of the soap opera world, going back and forth between Guiding Light and As The World Turns.
Writer Doug Martland, who also jumped between top soap operas, was the man behind Lisa’s two roles.
She captured the hearts of As The World Turns fans as former pornstar Iva Snyder, who hides the secret that she has a daughter she abandoned.
The girl was played by Martha Byrne, who was friends with Lisa offscreen and made a touching statement after her death.

âHow blessed have we been to have Lisa share her immense talent with us for decades. She had been my friend since I was 15, since the day Doug Marland introduced me to my âmother,â Martha said.
âLisa has been my mentor, mom, sister and more all of my life. As a stage partner, she was always present and full of creativity, âshe added.
âAs a writer and director, her instincts were unmatched. I’m going to miss our daily calls about our families, our careers and everything in between.
Martha exclaimed, “To the fans, she loved and respected you all more than you will ever know. She loved to entertain you and her appreciation for your support was immeasurable. We are devastated by the loss of an incredible woman. .

Born in Kansas City in 1954, she spent the 1970s working in the New York theater and landed several Broadway concerts according to Playbill.
In addition to several roles in the original 1978 production of The Best Little W **** house in Texas, she also worked in covers of Hello, Dolly! and Pal Joey.
Even in the early 1980s, as her star was rising in Guiding Light, she found time – while on the show – to return to Broadway on 42nd Street.

Lisa first dabbled in directing on As The World Turns and has gone on to direct episodes of shows such as One Life To Live.
Her first marriage was to her Guiding Light lover, Tom Nielsen, with whom she shares her children Buddy and Victoria.
Along with her children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her second husband, Brian Neary, whom she married in 1997.
