WhatsApp has become the go-to app for anyone looking for an instant messaging app and that’s a good thing. The app now has over two billion active users in many parts of the world and in many places people prefer using WhatsApp to the regular texting that also existed.
WhatsApp users may soon see stories in main chat lists
We all know that Meta is actively developing the app and also adding new features to the app. For example, users can hide their online status, create larger groups, and many more features as well. Now, WhatsApp statuses, also known as stories, now appear in the main chat list for users running the latest beta version of the app on Android or iOS.
As you can see in the screenshot above, WhatsApp statuses now show in the main chat list for some beta users. Of course, you can still access the dedicated Status tab. So the new UI is just a shortcut rather than a replacement, as it won’t be a problem for everyone.
The new change will only be available to select WhatsApp users, at the time of writing. Given how server-side the deployment is, there’s no way for others to force it, so the best thing you can do is wait. Until the company goes ahead and releases the feature to more users, it is best to wait for the update to come out.
Another thing to note is that WhatsApp can easily go ahead and remove this feature if they feel it won’t be useful to anyone.
We’ll let you know if WhatsApp decides to roll out the feature to everyone. Let us know what you think of integrating this feature into your app.
