YouTube star talks success with Ayr United videos

A die-hard Ayr United fan has told how his passion for the Honest Men turned him into a video star.

Teenager Matthew McIlvanney – better known as ‘Mattman AUFC’ – has created online content chronicling his life on the road as a dedicated supporter.

His YouTube channel, which has amassed over 55,000 views, has seen the 13-year-old become a recognized face on the terraces, where he attends Somerset Road End matches.

And he admits his weekly vlogs are now becoming an essential part of his life as a United fan.

Matthew, a student at Marr College, told the Ayrshire Post: “I originally came up with the idea while watching fans from other clubs make similar videos.

“A lot of big clubs have fans filming themselves during games and I thought it would be cool to do the same.

“It’s funny because sometimes people spot me and ask to be in the videos.

“I just try to capture as much of the atmosphere as possible.”
